This book starts after Richard has defeated the mriswith and demanded the surrender of all midlands to him. He has demanded the surrender to unite the lands against the Imperial order and the Dream walker. The Death spell on Kahlan has been broken and all now know her again as the Mother Confessor. Zed is still missing and is feared dead but Richard will not believe it and clings to the hope that his grandfather is still alive.

Richard finds that he has a half brother and that he is The Raug’ Moss High priest.  Richard’s brother Name is Drefan Rahl his mother left him with the sect of healers and killed herself so Darken Rahl would not find him and kill him. Richard is leery of his new found brother any brothers he has had in the past has tried to kill him, will this one be different?

Jang sends a wizard to kill Richard and when he fails he leaves a prophesy before he dies, it is as follows. On the red moon will come the firestorm.  The one bonded to the blade will watch as his people die. If he does nothing, then he, and all those he loves, will die in its heat, for no blade, forged of steel or conjured of sorcery, can touch this foe.  To quench this inferno, he must seek the remedy in the wind. Lightning will find him on this path, for the one in white, his true beloved, will betray him in her blood. Jang has sent Sister Amelia to start a plague among  the children which quickly spreads out of control and Richard is powerless to stop it. Richard finds out that the cure to the plague that was started with magic can be stopped with magic. The magic to stop it just happens to reside in the Temple of the Winds that the wizards of the old sent to the underworld to protect the world of the living from the dangerous magic it contains. Blood of the Fold

Blood of the Fold by: Terry Goodkind

Nerdy rating 8/10

This book starts after Stone of tears. To escape from the old world and the palace of the prophets Richard had to bring down the great barrier that separated the Old world from the New worlds. The Old world being where the sisters of the light are from and the new worlds being Da’hara, West land and the Midlands.

When Richard took the barrier down it let Emperor Jagang the Dream walker and his armies called the imperial order that are after, what else, world domination. Also The mriswith have come to the land after the great barrier went down. They are Lizard like creatures that used to be wizards but gave up there magic to become invisible; they came to start a colony in the midlands. The mriswith are gutting anyone in their path and Richard must stop them while fighting off the Imperial order that thinks that all Wizards and Sorceresses are evil and work for the keeper.

Richard is just now starting to realize what being a War Wizard means for him. I like the saying he says in the book before a fight “Dance with me death. I am ready.” It sets the tone for the whole book. As the new Lord Rahl he has a new group of protectors Egan and Ulic first file solders Cara, Berdine and Raina Mord Sith.  Richard has to become used to them and eventually creates bonds with all of them.

The only thing that can stop Janang who has the power to visit any dreams if you are awake or not and affect you in them (kind of like Freddie Cruger ) is you guessed it Richard. The Rahl family has been a long line of wizards and in the past one of Richards ancestors had to deal with a dream walker. He cast a spell that any that swore fidelity to the current lord Rahl  ( Richard in this case ) would be protected and the deam walker would not be able to inter their dreams.

The incantation is as follows.

Master Rahl guide us. Master Rahl teach us. Master Rahl protect us. In your light we thrive. In your mercy we are humbled. We live only to serve. Our lives are yours. As you can see pretty potent stuff.

While all this is going on there is other wizards and people to add adventure and to make it more difficult for Richard. Does he make it? does he turn evil? Will Richard and kahlan ever marry? Read the book and find out.

This story begins after Richard has killed Darken Rahl using the boxes of Orden and the wizard’s first rule. It starts in the garden of life with Chase the boundary warden, Zed the wizard and Rachel a girl. They are there looking at the aftermath of the death of lord Rahl, when they are looking to see what to do with the boxes of Orden they are attacked buy a screeling sent by the Keeper. The veil to the underworld has been torn by the magic of the boxes of Orden. They must find Richard to let him know, but he has already left to see the Mud people on Scarlet the dragon. Zed sets off to search for him.

While at the mud peoples village Richard and Kahlan decide to marry but they never have the chance. Richard starts to have headaches from his gift and finds out that he is a wizard too, he has gotten it from his father Darken Rahl and his grandfather Zedukus Zul Zorander. If Richard does not get His magic under control it will kill him.

This is where the Sisters of the light come into the book. They tell Richard he must come with them or die and he must put the Rada’ Han (like a collar) on his neck. With his previous experience with a collar he won’t do it so kahlan makes him, he does and ends up at the Palace of the Prophet.

At the palace he learns that he does not age normal there and he may be stuck there forever if he doesn’t learn magic or escape. He meets new friends and enemies while there, as he discovers  a group of sisters that work for the keeper called the sisters of the dark. Richard exposes them and escapes just in time to….. Ok lazy read the book already.

Wizard’s First Rule

Wizard’s First Rule By: Terry Goodkind
Nerdy rating 10/10

If you have not read this book what are u waiting for? You need to drop what you are doing and go read it now. This is one of my top ten books to read. I can’t tell you what order they are in, books are like kids you can’t hurt their feelings. This is the first book in the Sword of Truth series. I was randomly looking for a book to buy, and with the dragon on the front I thought, I like dragons so let’s try it.

The Book is not about dragons however it is much better than that.  It’s about a magic land called The Midlands, and a man called Richard Cypher that is on a journey of discovery and adventure with a woman called Kahlan Amnell. There is a dragon in the book but it is just a couple of chapters not the main character. The story starts in the non magical West Land with Richard and his friend Zed running for their life from a wizard that killed his father, and is after Richard who is the Keeper of The Book.  Richard is appointed The Seeker of The Truth to save the Midlands from the tyrant Lord Rahl. Then they flee to the magical land of the midlands . The story just gets better from there with the mud people, Mord-Sith, Magic, and Death chasing them at every turn. Not to mention all the things they do and see along the way with many interesting friends to help. If you want to know more read the book already!!!

Terry Goodkind is one of those amazing authors that keeps you enthralled with any book that he writes. Wizards First Rule is just amazing! It’s one book you start to reading then you just can’t stop. Terry Goodkind knows how to balance the book perfectly. He gives you a problem that is solved in each book, but it has an undercurrent of another problem that never gets solved until the last book. I think he does that so you have to keep coming back and reading his books, but you still have the satisfaction of completion with every book. I just want to know, what you are doing? Why are you still reading? You need to go get the book already…. Now go read and enjoy!

If you don’t like to read they did make a TV series called The Legend of the Seeker, but I don’t recommend it. Though I have heard that some do enjoy it, but they have never read the books, so I leave that up to you.

The TV show is based loosely off a book series by Terry Goodkind. The writers defiantly have put their own spin on the series. While my fiancé likes to watch the show, and he thoroughly enjoys it he has not read the books. I like to watch with him and cringe and criticize what they have done with one of my favorite book series. I will admit if I had not read the book I would rate the show higher on its own I would give it a 7 for a good story plot and ok acting. With my love for the books though I feel I must boo the show. The first season was ok far as keeping with the book the changes they made there I could see that they had to do to keep it understandable. The second season however I just don’t know what they are thinking. I am starting to think that the writers for the show have not even bothered to read the books just the back covers if even that … so in closing I don’t recommend watching this show unless u have not read the books then go for it and enjoy , just read the books when u are done they are worth it.
