Scarlet Monastery

Eliala -Warrior/Tank (Nerd Girl)

Zypheia-Priest/Healer ( Fried Spam)

Mantart-Shaman/DPS (Da Master)

Huntstair-Hunter/DPS ( candy man)

Map to Scarlet Monastery

The DerNerdery guild in World of Warcraft has survived It’s first Dungeon Run with out any deaths…. Well not us anyway just the bosses and there minions. HeHeHe…… We ran Scarlet Monastery I know not a really hard one but we ran our low level characters. We arrived to do battle for the greater good of Azeroth .

Eliala shouts her battle cry and runs into the first open door to do battle with the fist enemy that she finds with her friends Mantart, Huntstair, and Zypheia close behind just as eager to do battle as the gallant warrior. Huntstair becomes bored with Eliala’s slow and stedy pace and desides to run ahed of the group to do battle on his own with his trusty reaver by his side. He did not take long however to realize that there was a handy warrior for a reason, and he ran back to join the group and with Zypheia’s quick heals he survived to learn that valuable lesson do not go in front of the tank. Anything in our groups path quickly became mince meat thanks to all the DPS from Mantart.

The first boss was down and We grabbed the keys to the monastery and continued on to the armory With a great shout of shear rage and excitement Zypheia decided to see how good of a tank he would make. He ran forward not wating for Eliala and ran back crying and managed to bubble Eliala on the way back with Mantarts quick thinking and Eliala’s master tanking skills we survived yet once again. At about this time Eliala was giting cocky thinking she was all that and a bag of chips and decides to pull all of one room at once, however she quickly learned the error of her ways and had to hope Zypheia was up to mad dash healing. Luckily he was and yet once again we survived.

Then on to armory we go  pleased with our selves for not dieing yet…. as we work our way through Armory nothing major happens just allot of bad guys dieing. Then we decided that we had what we came for and did not do the last wing. Over all it was a grand adventure of miss haps and close calls but always a ton of fun.

Great job guys and gals. Hope we have more to join us next time.

Headless Horseman

On a side note during the Halloween Season Scarlet Monastery  is home to the Headless Horseman

Never Surrender

12:54 am in Games & Toys, Modern Games, Nerd Life by G Watson

Last night after the long and down to the wire 3v3 World of Warcraft Tournament at Blizzcon, I had left when the check for $75,000 was almost being hand to the team called Complexity Red.  I came here to report on the that epic battle, but that wasn’t the end of the story.

While I was typing away the post, the other team aAa had contested to the judges that their player was killed after the time limit.   The server admins and judges went back and watched a replay of the final minutes of the battle.  About an hour later the judges had agree with aAa and gave the tie point to aAa(which had scored the most damage).  The final best of five series was now tied at 2-2 meaning that whoever scored the last point would win the tournament.  So the last battle went underway in the Ring of Valor:  The Winner: aAa.

The lesson to all you people out there: Never Surrender.

Blizzcon 2010 Wrap – Day 2

11:42 pm in Featured, Games & Toys, Misc., Modern Games, Nerd Flix, Nerd Life by G Watson

While not as news worthy as the first day, it was a exciting day at Blizzcon with exciting highs and lows.  Most of the day was filled with mundane Q&A panels.  However most of the action goes to the Tournaments with a first World Starcraft 2 Champion:  Min-Soo Jung  from South Korea.  However that was dwarfed in excitement to the long and down to the wire World of Warcraft PvP tournament.  The final two teams aAa and Complexity Red.  While aAa dominated the tournament, including a win against Complexity Red earlier in the day, Complexity Red scored a wining kill with 5 seconds of the match end, where the teams had been evenly matched for the previous 40 minutes of the round.

Some low points of the day was Blizzard COO Paul Sams making announcement for the new MMO during the closing ceremony, only to pull a Bazinga,  unless of course your into World of Jersey: Shorecraft. Then announcing they would be giving away “free beta keys to Diablo 3” to huge cheers, but then adding only to “1000 people” to roaring boos.

There was also the Tenacious D concert that debut two of their new songs, but I instead choose the more engaging WoW 3v3 tournament(that lasted until after 1am EST), so I don’t know how the concert went.

Overall Blizzcon was still thrilling, but didn’t live up to the magic of previous years, but there is always next year.

***Correction After I posted this last night, the last match in the World of Warcraft 3v3 tournament went under review and changed the outcome of the tournament.  In fact it was aAa that won the Grand Tournament.  Find out the details here.

Blizzcon 2010 Wrap – Day 1

10:57 pm in Featured, Games & Toys, Misc., Modern Games, Nerd Flix, Nerd Life by G Watson

Day 1 of Blizzcon 2010 is officialy over. Surprisingly, very little news came out of Day 1 this year compared to previous years.  It is known that Blizzard is working on a new MMO and the second act of the Starcraft 2 Triliogy, but unfortunately we’ll have to wait another year for any news on them.  Most of the news came from already talked about Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

Blizzcon Diablo 3 News:
The fifth and final class of Diablo 3 was announced as a Demon Hunter,  this character is a ranged class with dual wielding crossbows.  Yes, you read that right – Duel Wielding Crossbows.  The class is similar to the Amazons from Diablo 2.  Also added to Diablo 3 is player-versus-player arenas (so much for luring people out of safety, killing them and taking an ear as in Diablo 2).

Blizzcon World of Warcraft Cataclsm News:
Most of news on the World of Warcraft side was clarification of the new Raid locks, meaning you can only down a raid boss once per week either 10-man or 25-man, but not both.  The loot is going to be the same (2 drops for 10-man, 5 drops for 25 man), but you get extra justice points for doing 25-man versions.  The bosses are no longer linked to your raid id, but to your character, so you can pick up with a different group if you choose.

Blizzcon Starcraft 2 News:
The other big news is in Starcraft 2, a couple of developer mods are going to be added to the game, the big one being Defense of the Ancients.

The Fourth Age of Azeroth

3:04 am in Games & Toys, Modern Games, Nerd Life by G Watson

The end of the World(of Warcraft) is coming.  At least this new religion in Azeroth wants you to believe that.  Back from the legendary expeditions into Northrend, heroes are finding themselves in very unstable situations.  As the ground shakes every couple of minutes, pretty violently, I might add (like 6.9 earthquakes)  and invasion by mighty elementals that tear apart the capitals of Stormwind and Orgrimmar.  Citizens are getting pretty desperate, creating a new religion calling on prophecies of the end of the World (of Warcraft).

Patch 4.01 is coming to Warcraft with major changes, while it is not a direct upgrade to Cataclysm (which is going to be patch 4.03), it’s going to introduce the new skill and talents for all players.  Stats have been redistributed and the user interface has been reorganized once again for Cataclysm.

Also introduced is the new pre-cataclysm event.  Basically players start out investigating this new religion and find out who is behind the elemental invasions.  Ever couple of hours Stormwind and Orgrimmar are invaded by an elemental army through rift portals.  After every section of the city is cleared players get access to portals throughout the city that let you queue up (via find a group) and fight 5-man elemental bosses.  The bosses are pretty easy and drop high-end loot.

Also happen later this month is Blizzcon.  October 22 and 23 will be filled with information about the upcoming Cataclysm expansion and a great possibility for the release of the opening cinematic.  I will be here reporting any news and updates on those days.  And if you haven’t heard Cataclysm is being released in stores and online December 7.
